Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1508 Description
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1508 is a vintage 34mm model crafted in 18k yellow gold and produced during the 1960s and early 1970s. While more commonly seen as a Date model, some examples were made without the date function, retaining the clean symmetry of a no-date dial while still featuring the same robust Oyster case and fluted bezel. These models were powered by the Rolex Caliber 1570, a highly regarded automatic chronometer movement with hacking seconds and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours. The watch featured a screw-down crown and caseback for water resistance, along with an acrylic crystal. Dial configurations were elegant and conservative, often found in champagne, silver, or black, paired with gold baton hour markers and hands. Measuring 41mm lug-to-lug with a 19mm lug width, it wears with classic mid-century proportions. Though rare in no-date form, these pieces provide a minimalist and luxurious take on the traditional Oyster Perpetual, with the full gold construction placing it in a more elevated category within Rolex’s vintage lineup.
