The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronomètre, Ref. 2240, is an exceptionally rare, pioneering self-winding model from the 1930s. Its historical significance lies in being a “pre-Bubbleback” Perpetual, representing one of the earliest integrations of an automatic movement into a waterproof Oyster case. This model predates the widespread use of the Perpetual system, making it a crucial and rare artifact of Rolex’s innovation. The watch features a 32mm tonneau-shaped stainless steel case and is powered by a 9 3/4 ligne self-winding chronometer movement.
