Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1530 Description

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date ref. 1530 is a highly distinctive and rare model produced in the early 1970s, notable for its integrated case and bracelet design. It was among the few Rolex references to feature a fully integrated stainless steel case and bracelet, foreshadowing the design language that would later become popularized by the Royal Oak and Nautilus. The 36mm case is angular and faceted, a sharp departure from traditional rounded Rolex aesthetics, and is topped with a flat sapphire crystal and screw-down crown, delivering both modern looks and functionality. Powering the 1530 is the Rolex Caliber 1570, a robust and highly accurate automatic movement with a 48-hour power reserve and hacking seconds feature. The dial typically appears in silver with sunburst finishing and straight baton indices, paired with stick hands, though production volume was limited and variations are minimal. The integrated bracelet narrows directly from the case, lending the watch a sleek and continuous profile. It measures 44mm lug-to-lug and has a unique fixed lug structure without traditional spring bars. The 1530 is a precursor to the Oysterquartz, using the same case design, and it stands as a sought-after reference for collectors interested in rare, transitional Rolex models that experimented with bold case architecture.
