Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6586 Description
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6586 is a vintage automatic model produced during the late 1950s and early 1960s. With a 34mm stainless steel case and an optional fluted 18k yellow gold bezel, this reference embodies Rolex’s classic mid-century design with a refined two-tone aesthetic. It is powered by the Rolex Caliber 1030, a groundbreaking self-winding movement introduced by Rolex in the 1950s, known for its bi-directional rotor and roughly 42-hour power reserve. Dial variations included sunburst silver, cream, or champagne finishes, with applied baton or arrowhead indices and dauphine-style hands, all protected by an acrylic crystal. The Oyster case ensured water resistance through its screw-down crown and caseback. Its lug-to-lug measurement is approximately 42mm, and it has a 19mm lug width, offering balanced proportions that work well on a variety of wrist sizes. Originally offered with riveted Oyster or Jubilee bracelets, the 6586 has grown in collector interest due to its transitional design and the presence of the historically significant Caliber 1030. It represents one of the more refined vintage Oyster Perpetuals of its time, blending function, innovation, and subtle luxury.
