Omega 470 Description

The Omega Caliber 470, introduced in 1955, is a historically important movement as it was Omega’s first small-diameter, full-rotor automatic caliber. It was specifically developed to bring self-winding technology to the brand’s ladies’ watch collections. The Caliber 470 served as the 17-jewel base for the higher-spec Caliber 471 and was the engine behind the iconic “Ladymatic” series, one of Omega’s most successful product lines. This movement was a significant engineering feat, successfully miniaturizing a reliable and efficient bi-directional automatic winding system. It marked a new era for women’s watches, offering the same convenience and modernity that had previously been available only in larger men’s models.
