Omega 601 Description

The Omega Caliber 601 is the time-only cornerstone of the celebrated 600-series family of manual-wind movements. Introduced in 1962 as a modern successor to the famous 30mm calibers, the 601 was a true workhorse for Omega throughout the decade. Known for its signature copper-plated finish for corrosion resistance, it was lauded for its simplicity, slim profile, and exceptional reliability. This caliber was produced in vast quantities and became the heart of many of Omega’s most popular models, including the Seamaster 600 and a wide array of Genève and De Ville watches. Functionally, it is a classic three-hand movement with a central sweep seconds hand. It served as the robust and accurate base upon which date complications were added to create the Caliber 611 (standard date) and Caliber 613 (quick-set date), making it one of the most important and versatile Omega calibers of its era.
