Omega 620 Description

The Omega Caliber 620 is the foundational movement of the ultra-thin 62x family, introduced in 1970. Designed specifically for Omega’s elegant dress watch lines like the De Ville and Genève, its key attribute was its exceptionally slim 2.5 mm height. This allowed for the creation of very slender and stylish timepieces for both men and women. As the parent caliber of the family, the 620 established the core architecture: a simple and reliable manual-wind movement with two hands (hours and minutes) to maintain a clean aesthetic. It operated at a beat rate of 19,800 A/h. This caliber was produced in vast numbers and was a critical part of Omega’s catalog, demonstrating the brand’s prowess in creating high-quality, diminutive mechanical movements. It was succeeded by the nearly identical Caliber 625, which featured an upgraded beat rate.
