Omega 625 Description

The Omega Caliber 625 is a manual-wind movement from the Caliber 620 family, introduced in 1973. It is a quintessential example of a compact, reliable, and ultra-thin workhorse movement produced in massive quantities by Omega during the 1970s. With an impressively slim profile of just 2.5mm, it was primarily used in ladies’ watches and elegant men’s dress models, particularly within the De Ville and Genève collections. The design was minimalist, featuring only two hands for hours and minutes, which contributed to its svelte dimensions and clean dial aesthetics. A key update from its predecessor, the Cal. 620, was the increase of the beat rate to a modern 21,600 A/h, offering improved timekeeping performance. The Caliber 625 represents Omega’s commitment to producing high-quality mechanical dress watch movements even as the industry was increasingly shifting towards quartz technology.
