Rolex 1035 Description

The Rolex Caliber 1035 is an automatic, chronometer-grade movement from the 10xx series that is functionally identical to the Caliber 1065. It is a derivative of the workhorse Caliber 1030, modified to include a date function. During the transitional period of the mid-to-late 1950s, Rolex’s caliber designations were fluid, and it is common to find movements stamped “1035” inside watches marketed with the Caliber 1065. Essentially, both numbers refer to the same movement: a 25-jewel, 18,000 A/h automatic with a date complication, often featuring the iconic red-and-black “roulette” date wheel. It was housed in various Oyster Perpetual Date and Datejust models of the era. This movement, regardless of its designation as 1035 or 1065, was a cornerstone of Rolex’s offerings, providing a reliable and accurate time-and-date function before the entire family was succeeded by the 15xx series.
