Rolex 630 Description
The Rolex Caliber 630 is an early self-winding movement from the “Bubbleback” era of the late 1940s. As a chronometer-grade caliber, it powered a variety of Oyster Perpetual models. Its thickness, due to the automatic winding mechanism, necessitated the domed “Bubbleback” or “Ovettone” case design. The 630 was a key time-only movement in the evolution of Rolex’s famed “Perpetual” line, representing the state-of-the-art for its time.
