Rolex Air-King 7784 Description

The Rolex Air‑King ref. 7784 was produced from 1952 to 1956 and is one of the earliest known examples of the automatic Air‑King line. It featured a 34 mm stainless steel Oyster case with a domed acrylic crystal and a smooth bezel, adhering to the rugged yet refined design language of early post-war Rolex watches. The reference housed the Rolex Caliber 1030 automatic movement, which introduced bi-directional winding and improved timekeeping accuracy. The case thickness was approximately 11–12 mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of about 42 mm and a 19 mm lug width. Dial options typically included silver or cream finishes with luminous radium or tritium applications and applied indices, along with ‘Precision’ or ‘Super Precision’ text. With its limited production run and role in the evolution of self-winding Rolex sports watches, the 7784 holds historical significance and is considered a desirable early vintage reference.
