Rolex Air-King Date 5701 Description
The Rolex Air‑King Date ref. 5701 was produced from 1960 to 1989 as the two-tone counterpart to the all-steel ref. 5700. This model featured a 34 mm stainless steel Oyster case with an 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and an acrylic crystal equipped with a Cyclops magnifier over the date window. It was powered by either the Rolex Caliber 1520, 1530, or 1525, depending on the production year, and offered a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The case measured approximately 11–12 mm in thickness, with a 42 mm lug-to-lug distance and a 19 mm lug width. Dial options included silver, champagne, or gold tones with baton hour markers, and some examples featured ‘Precision’ or ‘Super Precision’ text. Sold mainly in select international markets, particularly Canada and the U.K., the 5701 is a relatively rare and highly collectible model, representing a refined variation of the utilitarian Air‑King line with the added functionality of a date complication.
