Rolex Chronograph 2737 Description
The Rolex Chronograph reference 2737 is an exceptionally rare and historically significant timepiece from the mid-1930s. Its importance lies in its striking Art Deco design and its extreme scarcity, with very few examples known to exist. This non-Oyster model is distinguished by its large 36mm 18k yellow gold case, which was considerable for the era. The most defining characteristics are its elegant, oval “olive” shaped chronograph pushers, a three-body case construction with a snap-on back, and fine, down-turned lugs. The dials are typically silvered and feature sophisticated multi-color scales, including tachymeter and telemeter tracks, along with applied gold hour markers. The watch is powered by a high-quality, manually wound 14-ligne column-wheel chronograph movement. The combination of its large size, precious metal case, distinctive pushers, and overall rarity makes the reference 2737 a highly coveted “grail” piece for elite collectors of vintage Rolex.
