Reference 116598 is the 18k yellow gold (8) counterpart to the 116599, produced from the early 2000s onwards. Its 98 configuration code specifies a bezel factory-set with brilliant-cut diamonds and diamond-set lugs/case guards. It is powered by the in-house Caliber 4130. This reference is famously the platform for the “Leopard” Daytona, which features a unique leopard-print dial and a bezel set with cognac-colored sapphires, demonstrating Rolex’s capacity for avant-garde designs.
