Reference 6240 is a rare, transitional vintage Daytona produced from approximately 1965 to 1969. It is historically significant as the first reference to exclusively feature screw-down chronograph pushers, making it the first true “Oyster” Daytona with improved water resistance. It is powered by the Valjoux 722 manual-wind movement and is distinguished by a black acrylic (Bakelite) tachymeter bezel. Early examples featured “Small Daytona” text, while later versions had the “Large Daytona” text. The 6240 served as the direct prototype for the iconic Ref. 6263.
