Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1013 Description
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1013 is a vintage model produced from the late 1950s through the 1970s, representing one of the more refined and elegant executions of the Oyster Perpetual line. It featured a 36mm case, often produced in solid yellow or white gold, with a smooth or engine-turned bezel and Rolex’s standard Oyster configuration—screw-down crown, screw-down caseback, and acrylic crystal. The 1013 was powered by either the Rolex Caliber 1560 or the later Caliber 1570, both COSC-certified self-winding movements with a 48-hour power reserve, highly regarded for their precision and durability. Dials were typically minimalistic, with applied gold hour markers, dauphine or stick hands, and sunburst or matte finishes in silver, champagne, or rare black configurations. The case had a lug-to-lug span of approximately 43mm and a lug width of 20mm, offering a more substantial presence than the smaller 34mm Oyster Perpetual references. The 1013 was targeted toward customers seeking a luxurious, chronometer-rated Rolex without the added complication of a date window, positioning it between the utilitarian and formal ends of the Rolex lineup. Collectors today value the 1013 for its understated elegance, larger case size for the time, and solid mechanical pedigree, making it a sought-after dress reference in vintage Rolex circles.
