Rolex Oyster Perpetual 3725

The Rolex 3725 is a classic and well-documented “Bubbleback” reference from the 1940s. It shares its historical significance with the greater family of early Oyster Perpetual models that helped build the Rolex legend as the world’s first successful self-winding, waterproof wristwatches. The reference 3725 is noted for its “Tonneau” shaped case and, like other Bubblebacks, gets its name from the protruding case back that houses the automatic rotor. This reference is most frequently seen in two-tone, or “Rolesor,” combinations, typically pairing a stainless steel case back and mid-case with a 14k gold bezel and crown. Variations with full steel cases also exist. Dials can be found in different colors, such as silvered or cream, sometimes aging to a desirable “tropical” patina.
