Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6592 Description
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6592 is a midsize automatic watch produced during the mid-to-late 1950s, showcasing Rolex’s ongoing refinement of its post-war design language. This reference was fitted with a 34mm stainless steel case and typically paired with a smooth bezel, though engine-turned variants were also seen. At the heart of the 6592 is the Rolex Caliber 1030, a pioneering bi-directional rotor movement that helped establish Rolex’s dominance in automatic chronometry. The dial layout was classic and understated, most commonly silver with applied indices and dauphine hands beneath a domed acrylic crystal. The Oyster case delivered reliable water resistance thanks to its screw-down crown and caseback. Its dimensions—42mm lug-to-lug and 19mm lug width—made it well-proportioned for the era, offering a practical yet refined presence on the wrist. Delivered on either a riveted Oyster bracelet or leather strap, the ref. 6592 holds significance as part of the early lineage of automatic Oyster Perpetuals. Though overshadowed by more prominent references, it remains a collectible piece for those drawn to transitional Rolex design and early self-winding engineering innovations.
