Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date 1511 Description

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date ref. 1511 is a rare and often overlooked reference produced during the late 1960s to early 1970s. This reference was typically constructed from 18k yellow gold and featured the hallmark Rolex 34mm Oyster case, paired with a fluted bezel and acrylic crystal with Cyclops lens. As with all Oyster models, it was equipped with a screw-down crown and caseback for effective water resistance. The 1511 houses the Rolex Caliber 1570, a renowned automatic chronometer movement known for its robustness and precision, offering hacking seconds and a 48-hour power reserve. Dials were commonly found in refined tones like champagne, silver, or black, complemented by gold hour markers and hands. Measuring approximately 41mm lug-to-lug with a standard 19mm lug width, the 1511 delivers traditional Rolex proportions in a precious metal execution. Due to its low production numbers and full gold construction, the 1511 is prized among vintage Rolex collectors who seek out obscure but significant models from the brand’s rich legacy.
