Rolex Oysterdate Precision 6694 Description

The Rolex Oysterdate Precision ref. 6694 is one of the most well-known manually wound Rolex models, produced from the early 1960s through the late 1980s. It features a 34mm stainless steel Oyster case with a smooth bezel, an acrylic crystal, and the trademark screw-down crown and caseback for water resistance. Inside, it is powered by the Rolex Caliber 1225, a hand-wound movement with a date complication positioned at 3 o’clock under a Cyclops magnifier. The 6694 is part of the non-chronometer ‘Precision’ line, known for its robust and minimalist design. Dials came in a wide array of colors and configurations, including black, silver, blue, and champagne, typically paired with stick indices and pencil or baton hands. The lug-to-lug measurement is approximately 41mm with a lug width of 19mm, keeping proportions balanced and versatile on the wrist. Due to its long production span, wide availability, and reliability, the 6694 remains one of the most accessible vintage Rolex references and a gateway into the brand’s heritage.
