Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date 19148 Description

The Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date ref. 19148 was produced in extremely limited quantities between the late 1970s and early 2000s and is among the most extravagant models ever created within the Oysterquartz range. Constructed from 18k yellow gold, this reference elevated the already ornate Oysterquartz aesthetic with a full diamond-set bezel and diamond-set lugs. It retained the 36 mm angular case and integrated President-style bracelet, with a case thickness of approximately 13 mm, a lug-to-lug span of 44 mm, and a lug width of 19 mm. At its core was the Rolex Caliber 5055 quartz movement, a thermocompensated and COSC-certified caliber offering precise timekeeping and instantaneous day and date switching. Dials were typically executed in precious materials—such as onyx or mother-of-pearl—and heavily embellished with diamond hour markers, often arranged in custom configurations. With its aggressive geometry and full gem-setting, the 19148 is a clear example of Rolex pushing boundaries in both design and execution during the quartz era. Today, it is one of the rarest and most coveted references in the Oysterquartz family, often appearing only at top-tier auctions or within elite collections.
