Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date 19049 Description

The Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date ref. 19049 was produced from approximately 1977 to 2001 and is the white gold counterpart to the yellow gold ref. 19048. It featured a 36 mm 18k white gold case with sharp, angular lines and an integrated President-style bracelet, paired with a factory diamond-set bezel. Powered by the Rolex Caliber 5055 quartz movement, it offered chronometer-certified accuracy, a day and date display with instantaneous switching, and a 50-hour battery life. The case measured about 13 mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug span of 44 mm and a lug width of 19 mm. Dial options included silver, slate, and other precious stone configurations, many accented with diamond hour markers, emphasizing the reference’s luxurious focus. As with other Oysterquartz models, the 19049 maintained a unique presence within the Rolex catalog due to its quartz movement and angular design—further elevated by its precious metal construction and gem-set embellishments. Collectors prize the 19049 for its rarity, distinct styling, and as a symbol of Rolex’s quartz-era experimentation at the highest end of their product line.
