Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date 19078 Description
The Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date ref. 19078 was produced from approximately 1977 to 2001 and stands as one of the most elaborate factory gem-set models within the Oysterquartz series. Constructed from 18k yellow gold, it featured a 36 mm angular case paired with a factory diamond-set bezel and a matching integrated bracelet with pyramid-style links, sometimes accented with diamonds. Powering the watch is the Rolex Caliber 5055 quartz movement, known for its COSC-certified accuracy, instantaneous day and date switching, and robust thermocompensated design. The case was approximately 13 mm thick, with a 44 mm lug-to-lug measurement and a 19 mm lug width. Dial options for the 19078 included luxurious executions in champagne, mother-of-pearl, and other exotic materials, frequently accompanied by diamond hour markers. As one of the highest expressions of Rolex’s quartz engineering, the 19078 is extremely rare and often appeared as part of special order or VIP allocations. Today, it is prized for its unique blend of geometric design, mechanical innovation, and high-jewelry finishing—occupying a niche of highly collectible, opulent quartz Rolex watches.
