Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date 19168 Description
The Rolex Oysterquartz Day-Date ref. 19168 was produced in extremely limited quantities between 1977 and 2001 and is one of the rarest and most ornate variants in the entire Oysterquartz series. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, the 19168 took the luxurious elements of its sibling models further, incorporating a factory-set diamond bezel and lugs, along with baguette-cut rubies or sapphires as hour markers or within the bracelet on certain examples. The 36 mm angular case featured the standard 13 mm thickness, a 44 mm lug-to-lug measurement, and a 19 mm lug width. Inside was the Rolex Caliber 5055 quartz movement, which featured COSC-certified accuracy, a thermocompensated circuit, and instantaneous day and date display. The integrated President-style bracelet was often customized with gem-set center links, matching the opulence of the case and dial. This reference was generally produced on special order, frequently for VIP clients in the Middle East or Asia, and as such, variations in dial materials and gem arrangements are expected. Due to its extreme rarity, high intrinsic value, and bespoke nature, the 19168 commands strong attention in the vintage Rolex market and is rarely seen outside of elite collections or high-profile auctions.
