Rolex Prince 1541 Description
The Rolex Prince ref. 1541 was introduced in the early 1930s as one of the more sophisticated interpretations within the Prince collection. Unlike the more common rectangular designs, the 1541 featured a tonneau-shaped case that followed the natural curvature of the wrist, lending it both elegance and comfort. Crafted in 18k yellow or rose gold, the case measured approximately 28 mm in width and 43 mm in length. Inside was the Rolex Caliber 300, a manually wound movement built for superior accuracy, offering a 42-hour power reserve and a reputation for chronometric reliability. The dial layout adhered to the Prince format, with a distinct two-zone design showcasing hours and minutes in the upper register and an oversized sub-seconds dial in the lower portion, often surrounded by a railway track and stylized Arabic numerals. Its bold Art Deco styling, combined with Rolex’s precision engineering, made the 1541 a standout model among professional clientele, especially doctors and scientists who valued legibility and dependability. Today, the Prince 1541 is highly sought after for its unique case architecture, rarity, and emblematic role in Rolex’s pre-Oyster horological innovation.
