Omega 571 Description

The Omega Caliber 571 is a comparatively rare automatic movement from the brand’s robust 550 family, produced in the late 1950s. While most date movements of the era were transitioning to the now-common window display, the Caliber 571 featured a classic and visually engaging “pointer date” complication. This function utilizes a fourth central hand to indicate the day of the month on a track printed along the dial’s periphery. As part of the 550 series, the 571 was a high-quality, bi-directionally winding automatic with a modern 19,800 A/h beat rate and an excellent power reserve for its time. Housed in models like the Seamaster Calendar, this caliber represents a charming and elegant approach to the date complication before the window format became ubiquitous, making watches with this movement an interesting find for collectors.
