Elgin
The Elgin National Watch Company was a major American watch manufacturer founded in Elgin, Illinois, in 1864. For nearly a century, it was one of the largest watch producers in the world, renowned for mass-producing quality pocket watches and later wristwatches, making timekeeping accessible to many Americans. Although the original company ceased operations in 1968, the Elgin name remains significant in the history of American horology.
