Enicar
Enicar was a historic Swiss watch manufacturer established in 1914 by Ariste Racine, who coined the brand name by simply reversing his own surname. The company gained a reputation for producing robust, high-quality mechanical movements and affordable tool watches, becoming particularly popular in Asian markets. Its fame peaked with the legendary “Sherpa” line, a collection of rugged timepieces launched after the brand successfully equipped a 1956 Swiss expedition to the Himalayas. However, like many traditional Swiss houses, Enicar struggled to adapt to the Quartz Crisis of the 1970s and was forced into liquidation in the 1980s. Today, vintage Enicar models, especially the Sherpa Graph and Super Dive, are highly coveted by collectors for their unique designs and durability.
