Rolex 500 Description

The Rolex Caliber 500 is the specific, foundational automatic movement that launched the legendary “Oyster Perpetual” line in the early 1930s. Based on an Aegler Hunter 10.5”’ manual-wind caliber, Rolex attached its revolutionary, single-direction 360° “Perpetual” rotor. The added thickness of this winding mechanism necessitated the famous domed “Bubbleback” case, making this time-only movement the true origin of Rolex’s automatic watch legacy.
