Valjoux 55 VBR Description

The Valjoux 55 VBR is a very rare and complex manual-wind, column-wheel flyback chronograph. The “VBR” indicates a special “bi-complication” used in military aviation watches, primarily for the French military in the 1950s/60s. The movement features a unique countdown timer that is preset via a rotating bezel. This allowed pilots to perform timed procedures, like bombing runs, with a clear visual countdown on the dial, a highly specialized function for its time.
