Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver 105-9870

This reference is an aesthetic variation of the Valjoux 7750-powered automatic Chronomaster. While mechanically and dimensionally identical to its stainless steel counterpart (Ref. 105 / 9855), the Ref. 105-9870 is defined by its black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coated case. This “all-black” finish was a popular and modern styling trend in the late 1970s, giving the watch a more aggressive, military-inspired look. The watch retains the large 42mm cushion case, the Valjoux 7750 movement with its day-date function and 12-hour chronograph, and the typical 12-6-9 subdial layout. Dials on this reference were often designed for high contrast, using white or vibrant orange markings and hands to ensure legibility against the dark case. The Ref. 105-9870 is a quintessential example of its era’s design language and is sought after by collectors for its distinct, “stealthy” appearance.
