Rolex Chronograph 3529 Description

The Rolex Chronograph reference 3529 is an extremely rare and historically significant model produced in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Its importance to collectors lies in its distinctive and elegant design, combined with its scarcity. Unlike many other Rolex chronographs, the 3529 was produced almost exclusively in stainless steel. The watch is defined by its two-piece case construction featuring a unique concave bezel and sharp, straight, faceted lugs, sometimes referred to as “calpis” lugs. This combination creates a sleek and angular aesthetic that is highly characteristic of the era. Dial variations include silvered and matte gilt finishes, typically with multi-scale layouts incorporating tachymeter and telemeter tracks. The watch is powered by the manually wound 13-ligne caliber, based on the Valjoux 23. The reference 3529’s minimalist yet strong design, coupled with its rarity and the uncommon focus on a steel case, makes it a highly coveted piece for serious vintage Rolex enthusiasts.
