Rolex Milgauss 1019 Description

Reference 1019 is the second-generation Oyster Perpetual Milgauss, a specialized anti-magnetic watch produced from approximately 1960 to 1988. Its primary technical feature is its resistance to magnetic fields of up to 1,000 gauss, achieved via a soft iron inner case (a Faraday cage) that shields the movement. It is powered by the Caliber 1580, a COSC-certified automatic movement modified with non-magnetic components. The 38mm stainless steel case is fitted with a smooth polished bezel and an acrylic crystal. An exceptionally rare ‘CERN’ dial variant exists, which features no luminous material, a specific requirement for scientists working in environments with sensitive equipment. The Ref. 1019 is historically significant for its function-driven design, representing a peak of analog-era anti-magnetic watch technology.
