Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6015 Description

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 6015 is a classic “Bubble Back” model from the early 1950s that is historically significant due to its use of a short-lived Rolex innovation. Produced around 1951, the watch is distinguished by its “Super-Oyster” winding crown. This was a non-screw-down, spring-loaded crown that Rolex developed as an alternative way to ensure water resistance. The technology was quickly phased out in favor of the proven screw-down Twinlock system, making watches with a Super-Oyster crown, like the 6015, interesting transitional pieces for collectors. The reference was typically cased in 18k yellow gold and featured a 32mm Oyster “Bubble Back” case. Dials were often silvered and adorned with applied faceted hour markers, such as dart or pyramid styles, reflecting the popular aesthetics of the 1950s.
