Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6099 Description
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6099 is a rarely seen vintage reference from the early 1950s that reflects the evolution of Rolex’s automatic watchmaking within the iconic waterproof Oyster case. It features a 34mm case crafted in stainless steel or gold, with a domed acrylic crystal and screw-down crown for water resistance. The movement inside is the Rolex Caliber 645, a bi-directional self-winding mechanism with approximately 42 hours of power reserve, known for its reliability and ease of maintenance. Dial designs followed mid-century Rolex aesthetics, typically seen in silver or champagne tones with applied baton or numeral hour markers, dauphine hands, and radium lume in select examples. The lug-to-lug measurement is approximately 42mm, and the lug width is 19mm. Though the 6099 was produced in relatively low quantities, it contributed to Rolex’s expansion of the Oyster Perpetual line and represents the brand’s drive to refine both form and function in post-war horology. For collectors, the 6099 offers a chance to own an understated yet historically important vintage Rolex.
