Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6748 Description

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6748 was produced during the late 1950s and early 1960s as a continuation of Rolex’s midsize stainless steel offerings. With a case diameter of 31 mm, the watch was designed to appeal to both men and women seeking a modestly sized, durable Rolex. It featured a stainless steel Oyster case, often paired with an engine-turned or smooth bezel and an Oyster bracelet, maintaining a sporty yet dressy appearance. Powering the reference was the Rolex Caliber 1130, an automatic movement known for its robustness and accuracy, offering around 42 hours of power reserve. The watch measured approximately 11.5 mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug span of 37.5 mm and a lug width of 16 mm. Dial options included silver, white, or black, with radium or early tritium luminous markers and hands, typically in a baton or Arabic numeral style. Though lacking date functionality, the 6748 maintained Rolex’s 100-meter water resistance standard, thanks to its screw-down crown and caseback. Today, it is appreciated as a solid example of early post-war Rolex design, offering vintage charm and compact proportions with timeless appeal.
