Rolex Prince 3361 Description
The Rolex Prince ref. 3361 is one of the more unusual and visually striking references from the classic Prince lineup, introduced during the 1930s. This model stood out for its square-shaped case—diverging from the more common rectangular or tonneau formats of the Prince series—making it a true outlier in both form and appeal. Typically made in 18k gold or sterling silver, the case measured approximately 28mm by 28mm, maintaining compact but bold proportions. It was powered by the Rolex Caliber 300, a manually wound movement built for superior accuracy and offering a 42-hour power reserve. The dial followed the Prince tradition with a vertically split design, featuring an upper display for hours and minutes and a generously proportioned lower sub-seconds register. Dial configurations included two-tone treatments, stylized Arabic numerals, and railroad-style minute tracks, all encapsulated within the Art Deco design philosophy of the time. The 3361, with its geometric aesthetics and technical focus, appealed to clients seeking both high precision and modernist design. Today, it is one of the rarer Prince references in the collector market, appreciated for its non-traditional case shape and representation of Rolex’s early experimentation with form and function.
