Rolex A295 Description
The Rolex A295, also known as Cal. 740, is a versatile automatic movement from the “Bubbleback” era and the non-chronometer sibling of the A296. It famously powered the first-ever Datejust (ref. 4467) in 1945. A highly complex version was also used in the rare “Padellone” (ref. 8171), which featured a triple calendar and moonphase. Its thickness required the “Ovettone” case design.
