Rolex Chronograph 2811 Description
The Rolex Chronograph reference 2811 is a rare and highly desirable non-Oyster model produced from the late 1930s into the early 1940s. Its historical significance is anchored in its impressive size for the period and its refined aesthetics. With a large 38mm case, the 2811 was a statement piece and remains highly attractive to modern collectors. The watch is celebrated for its elegant three-body case construction, featuring a snap-on back and, most notably, distinctive oval or “olive” shaped chronograph pushers that add a touch of sophistication. This reference was produced in both stainless steel and 18k yellow gold. The dials were typically silvered and featured complex multi-scale tracks, including tachymeter and telemeter, showcasing the watch’s utility as a precision instrument. It is powered by the reliable manually wound 13-ligne caliber based on the Valjoux 22. The combination of its large case, elegant “olive” pushers, and overall rarity makes the 2811 a premier example of Rolex’s pre-Daytona chronograph design.
