Dated to 1954 by its movement serial number, this vintage Tissot, reference 6589-6, is powered by a 17-jewel “bumper” automatic movement, a historically significant early form of self-winding technology. The all-stainless-steel case features a snap-on back and elegant, drilled lugs. Its silvered dial has acquired a light patina and is appointed with a mix of applied, faceted dart indices and Arabic numerals. The watch is fitted with aged, lume-filled dauphine hands and features a recessed subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, which is detailed with a fine guilloché finish and a contrasting blued steel hand.
