Don't miss the next drop
Our start
OTTUHR was founded in November of 2023 by Garrett Silverstein. A college student at the time, Garrett had been collecting, fixing, and selling vintage watches since he was 14 years old. So what was the purpose of creating Ottuhr? Well, in the start, it was to make vintage watches more accessible. Many vintage watch stores charge too much, don't back their watches, and make purchasing and returns a hassle. Which is why any watch, no matter the price, is backed by a 1-Year Mechanical Guarantee, includes free returns from 30 days upon delivery, and various payment and financing options. On top of that, we're proud to consistently offer the lowest market prices.
Since our launch in 2023 we've sold over 2,000 watches. We've scaled our inventory to consistently keep a selection of unique timepieces, and in the middle of 2024 we expanded our selection to neo-vintage and pre-owned timepieces. We've continued to expand our collection, and are proud to host some of the most bizarre and unique timepieces ever made.
Our collection is the heart of Ottuhr and is in a state of constant evolution. We are relentlessly searching for, researching, and curating new pieces, from mass produced Bulova watches to unique and seldom-seen references. This dynamic approach means our inventory is always fresh, offering a different experience with every visit. We invite you to explore our selection often to discover the latest timepieces we've sourced for their quality, history, and style.
Looking ahead, we’re constantly seeking innovative ways to make watches more accessible. We’re always striving to enhance the Ottuhr experience, from making minor changes to the shop to increase transparency about the watch’s history and current condition to our Watch Index & Reference reports.
The Ottuhr Watch Index is our latest project, which we hope will serve as a central hub for our site. Each entry in the watch index provides essential information about the reference, including whether we have it in stock, any written Reference Reports, and additional details.
Originally we were called UHR, a nod to the German word for “clock.” Our founder grew up surrounded by German influences as my mother was born there and half my family spoke only German. My grandfather was a passionate watch collector, and watches became a way for us to connect, even though my mother had to translate much of our conversations. I chose the name UHR because of that connection, but I wasn’t the only one with that idea. After running into branding issues and realizing how many others were using the same name, I knew I needed to go a different route. One night, while stressing over how I would move forward, I started looking through some of my old logo designs and realized that one of them resembled an otter. After that, I couldn’t help but go with Ottuhr.
