Tudor, established in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, was created to offer high-quality timepieces with the reliability and durability of Rolex but at a more accessible price point. Named in honor of the Tudor dynasty, the brand initially gained recognition for its robust and precise watches. Tudor became particularly famous for its tool watches, designed for professional use. The brand’s first major breakthrough came with the introduction of the Tudor Oyster in the 1940s, featuring the same waterproof case as Rolex’s Oyster. In the 1950s, Tudor introduced the Oyster Prince, combining the Oyster case with an automatic movement, setting a new standard for the brand. The Tudor Submariner, launched in 1954, became a favorite among divers and naval forces, known for its rugged construction and reliability underwater. In recent years, Tudor has experienced a renaissance with the introduction of the Heritage line, including modern reinterpretations of classic models like the Black Bay and the Pelagos. Unique aspects of Tudor include the use of in-house movements, robust design, and a focus on delivering exceptional value. With a rich history and a commitment to innovation, Tudor continues to carve its niche in the world of fine watchmaking, offering timepieces that blend heritage, performance, and style.
