Ottuhr...otter...get it? When we set out on our venture to sell vintage watches, we originally decided to call ourselves "Uhr," the German word for "watch." However, not only could we not secure the domain, but everything else you could imagine was also unavailable. So, after one manic episode, Ottuhr was born.

We often debate whether the name was a good choice or not, but according to our founder, "It's a stroke of genius." Besides that, the one passion we all share is vintage timepieces. Don't get us wrong—we all dabble in neo-vintage and modern contemporary, but there's just nothing like a vintage watch to us. It could be some crapper that nobody knows the brand of today, or a '70s Patek. There's something special about a vintage watch. We can't quite figure it out, really, but then again, that's what keeps it exciting.

You may think we started Ottuhr to preserve vintage watches. Well, sure, but let’s be honest here. We started Ottuhr to fund our own collections. Sure, it may not be the most noble start, but it’s the truth.

We will always find a way to sell vintage watches. If not for the money, but for the dopamine rush we get opening new packages each month. However, since starting Ottuhr, our personal collections haven’t mattered as much. We’ve even had to sell a chunk of our own collections to keep Ottuhr alive after Hurricane Milton.

What changed? We honestly don’t know. We just know we can’t give up on it. So here’s our vow: we vow to always give you the truth and to never stop selling, collecting, and preserving vintage watches.
